At Northshore Developments, we provide our clients with a network without a single point of failure. Every device and system has a backup, a partner that can take over in case anything goes wrong. Even if one of the servers goes down, access to your data and Web site will remain uninterrupted. Constant monitoring ensures that any serious problem receives immediate attention. What is Web site hosting, and why is hosting important to my business?
Web site hosting is the business of housing and maintaining files
for one or more Web sites. Hosting services allow people and businesses to
get their sites online and store their customers’ data on secured
servers. They also provide e-commerce solutions to help businesses
make transactions over the Web.

What are Microsoft FrontPage extensions? What support do you offer for them?
Microsoft FrontPage extensions can add extra functionality to your
site. Users who design and manage pages with Microsoft FrontPage can take
advantage of special server-side support for the extensions. We provide
support for Microsoft FrontPage 2000 extensions on Windows 2000.

What other technologies do you support?
We support all of the latest Internet technologies, including, but not limited to:
- Guest books
- Online polls & counters
- Database services
- Indexing & search engines listings
- E-mail services (pop accounts, forwarding, aliasing, auto responders...)
- Chat Rooms
- Photo gallery with auto upload and resize
- Full website stats and keyword searches
- ASP, ASP.NET, VBScript, Javascript, HTML, DHTML, CSS
- Self Updating Events Calendar, and more.

Do you accept international accounts?
Yes. We can accept international clients. We have clients from as far away as Hong Kong, and as close as down the street.

Can I transfer my site from another Web Hosting service? What’s involved in making the transfer?
Yes you can. We make the transition as smooth as possible. We pretty much take care of everything for you in order to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Why should I register my domain name through Northshore?
If you need a new domain name, we make registration
quick and easy. There is a small charge for registration. If you already own a name that you registered
with another service, you can use that with your account at Northshore as well.

How long does it take to register or transfer a domain name?
It usually only takes a few minutes to register a domain, but a site may not be instantly available at its registered name worldwide. However, in some areas it may be available after only a few hours. This is because Internet DNS databases retrieve new listings from one another but only update about once a day, causing a delay. The delay is typical of domain registrations and cannot be controlled by Northshore or any registrar. We handle domain transfers automatically. It takes up to 48 hours for a transfer to occur.

Can I access my site either with or without the “www” prefix?
Yes. Our servers are configured to recognize either form of your domain.

What top level domains do you support?
We support all TLDs supported by our registrar.
That currently includes .com, .net, .org, and .ca. We can also host pages with other TLDs.

How long can my domain name be and what characters can I use?
Your domain name can be up to 63 characters long, not counting the
TLD, although some older Internet programs only support domains up to 26
characters long. You can use numbers, letters and hyphens in your domain name.

How is my e-mail account handled?
You can access your e-mail with any client that supports POP3
e-mail. We also provide a webmail client which allows you to check your email from any computer connected to the internet.

Can I get mail forwarded to another server?
Yes. There is no monthly charge for this service.
